In Monday’s class we talked about copy cat criminals, and Professor Miller mentioned Mothers Against Violence in Video Games and other groups of that sort. This reminded me of the tv show Parks and Recreation. Every time the main character Leslie Knope, who is a government employee in small town in Indiana, would attempt to hold an event even slightly controversial The President of Society for family stability foundation would come in to stop it because it violated some Christian ethic. For example, Leslie decided to create a time capsule to place objects that describe their town at the time and when someone suggested the Twilight books, Society for family stability foundation objected saying that the book contained anti- Christian and therefore unmoral themes. Another and probably more relatable instance, when she tried to hold a sex education class for the elderly in order to decrease risk of STD’s and Society for family stability foundation again came to stop the event and preached abstinence. Do you think that groups like Society for family stability foundation work? I think that with todays culture and technology, people are able to get information really quickly. If they are not educated about important things like sec education, does not mean they will be abstinent.
