Reading the history of books, and how they evolved from papyrus to electronic books was very interesting. Books began from mainly religious texts that were available for only the wealthy and churches, and slowly evolved into a vast business available for everyone. Publishing technology plays an important role in the increased availability of modern day books. As the printing technology grew, so did the publishing business, with big companies like Penguin taking over. But there is also a separate media through which people are publishing more and more. Online sources like watttpad, which allow people to publish their stories online for free are also available for everyone to read. Are sources like wattpad, going to effect the publishing business? Furthermore, hardcopy books are slowly increasing in price and fewer people are wiling to buy them when theres much cheaper option available online. Will books again become only for the wealthy?
